2007 Foreclosure Activity

The AP released their analysis of foreclosure activity in the country's largest 100 metropolitan areas. What was number one on the list? If you didn't guess Detroit you obviously didn't think very hard. Actually guessing Detroit didn't take a lot of thought either I suppose. Anyways, is it a coincidence that the two metro areas with the highest foreclosure activity were also numbers one and two respectively on the Top 10 Most Miserable Cities list I posted yesterday.
The top 20 is actually littered with mid-west metropolitan areas (7 of the 20) along with Detroit you have, Warren/Troy/Farmington Hills, Ohio had four metro areas including Cleveland, Akron, Dayton and Toledo. Also rounding out the list from the midwest was Indianapolis at 18. Coincidently my current home area made the list at number 9 Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta.
On another comparative level below is a list American Van Lines distributed showing the migration patterns by state over 2007. Again, two Midwestern states are on it and Michigan ranks highest on the list.
